Nonlinear Reactions Advected by a Ow

Flows can modify the eeects of nonlinear reactions. Here we use a lattice Boltz-mann method to simulate an athermal ow which advects reactant species. As an example we consider a reactive system modeled by the Brusselator which exhibits Turing structures; the system is subjected to mixing as induced by the wakes behind obstacles. The resulting eeect is a modiication of the reaction patterns which can be as dramatic as their disappearance.
